Stewardship

Guardian Angels Santee > Stewardship

Stewardship is the act of placing God’s priorities before our own.  Stewards make gifts of their treasure, time, and talent to the Lord’s work as thanks for his many blessings to us.  By offering the first portion of what we have, or by making gifts that may sometimes feel a bit uncomfortable, this is known as “sacrificial giving.” At Guardian Angels, Stewards:

  • Get involved and join a ministry, whether for fun, to meet new friends, or to deepen your relationship with God.
  • Make a weekly or monthly financial gift to the parish. These funds help to keep the lights on, pay our great staff, and make it possible to provide wonderful ministries to parishioners and neighbors.
  • Participate in parish capital campaigns. Occasionally our parish comes together to raise larger amounts of money that are needed for large projects like fixing a roof, building a building, repairing the parking lot, etc.
  • Contribute to the Annual Catholic Appeal. These funds support diocese-wide programs that help others in need, feed the poor and hungry, support priestly vocations, and help to grow our Catholic schools.
  • Pray to God and thank Him.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

1 Peter 4:10

HOW TO PRAY THE ROSARY
**
1 - Make the Sign of the Cross.

2 - Holding the Crucifix, say the Apostles' Creed.

3 - On the first bead, say an Our Father.

4 - Say one Hail Mary on each of the next three beads.

5 - Say the Glory Be

6 - For each of the five decades, announce the Mystery (perhaps followed by a brief reading from Scripture) then say the Our Father.

7 - While fingering each of the ten beads of the decade, next say ten Hail Marys while meditating on the Mystery. Then say a Glory Be. (After finishing each decade, some say the following prayer requested by the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima: O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell; lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have most need of your mercy.)

8 - After saying the five decades, say the Hail, Holy Queen, followed by this dialogue and prayer:

V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray: O God, whose Only Begotten Son, by his life, Death, and Resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech thee, that while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Timeline photos"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?' Then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.' Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell--and great was its fall!" Now when Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astounded at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
Matthew 7:21-29 NRSV
