Coordinator of RCIA:
Are you looking for a church to call your own?
Do you struggle with questions about life-death-suffering- hope-forgiveness-love-God?
If so, the RCIA process could be for you.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) is primarily about conversion and as we adults know, we are always in need of conversion.
If you are not connected to any faith community, you are most welcome to explore the Catholic faith with us at Guardian Angels. If you feel it is for you, you will be formally accepted into the Catholic church in a solemn celebration at an Easter Vigil.
You are most welcome to join us on Thursdays 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. Before attending a session please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
More about RCIA:
- Inquiry Sessions – For adults 18 and older who wish to know about Jesus and the Catholic Faith.
- RCIA Sessions – Learn about the process and explore your faith

It is for those who are seeking for a church for worship or to call their own, or have a desire to become Catholic as well as persons who are curious about how the Catholic church differs from other Christian churches worship service.
We would love you to email before you attend or just feel free to drop by.
During July please read a chapter of Gospel of Luke each day and during August please read a chapter of The Acts of the Apostles. If baptized in a Christian Church, please locate a recent copy of your baptismal certificate.
We are delighted to have you join us on Thursdays 6:45 to 8:30 pm in the Cunnane Parish Center.
Please read through this whole section on RCIA. It is a process and therefore we cannot guaranteed which Easter Vigil is for your complete initiation.
Sunday Dismissal is at 10:30 am Mass.
The priest celebrant will invite you up to the front of the altar for a blessings and you will be let out by the Dismissal Facilitator for that Sunday. Dismissal is a must attend for Catechumens and all seeking Profession of Faith, Confirmation and Eucharist.
The RCIA groups include Catechumens, Candidates, Godparents, Sponsors, RCIA Team, family members and supporters.
- Catechumen: a person preparing for Baptism.
- Candidate: a baptized person preparing for full initiation in the Catholic Church.
- Godparents and Sponsors are from Guardian Angels Parish and need to attend 90% of the regular RCIA sessions.
Each candidate will need a sponsor and each catechumen needs a Godparent. We will host an information meeting for all adults who are interested in being an RCIA sponsor for another adult.
Persons in the RCIA process in need of regulating their marriages with the Catholic church need to call the rectory and make an appointment to speak with one of our priests as soon as possible.
RCIA catechumens/candidates/sponsors are expected to be involved in parish activities; e.g. Fall Festival in October, Parish Retreats, Dinners, Breakfasts, Talks/Presentations open to all adults, Soup Suppers/Stations during Lent, etc.
There are several Rites during the RCIA process. We usually have the Rite of Acceptance on the Feast of Christ the King and Feast of the Baptism of Jesus. Rite of Sending is usually at 10:30 am Mass on the First Sunday of Lent. Rite of Election and Continuing Conversion is during the same ceremony.
We will celebrate the Scrutinies with the Elect at 10:30 am Mass on the Third, Fourth and Fifth Sunday of Lent. First Reconciliation is at the Parish Penance Service during Lent or during the Parish Retreat.
RCIA attendees are requested to participate in the Parish Retreat during the Season of Lent.
All participants are expected to participate in the ceremonies of Holy Week.
Baptism, Professions of Faith, Confirmations, First Eucharist are at Easter Vigil.
