Sacred Scripture begins with the creation and union of man and woman and ends with “the wedding feast of the Lamb” (Rev 19:7, 9). Scripture often refers to marriage, its origin and purpose, the meaning God gave to it, and its renewal in the covenant made by Jesus with his Church.  Man and woman were created for each other.

By their marriage, the couple witnesses Christ’s spousal love for the Church. One of the Nuptial Blessings in the liturgical celebration of marriage refers to this in saying, “Father, you have made the union of man and wife so holy a mystery that it symbolizes the marriage of Christ and his Church.”

The Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant, which is more than a contract. Covenant always expresses a relationship between persons. The marriage covenant refers to the relationship between the husband and wife, a permanent union of persons capable of knowing and loving each other and God. The celebration of marriage is also a liturgical act, appropriately held in a public liturgy at church. Catholics are urged to celebrate their marriage within the Eucharistic Liturgy.

We are glad that you have decided to come to Guardian Angels Church for your marriage.
By marrying in the Church, you will benefit from the graces that come from the sacrament of marriage and from the support of the Catholic community.

Couples interested in getting married at Guardian Angels should contact the priest or deacon who will prepare them for marriage at least nine months prior to the date they hope to celebrate their wedding.

Arrangements for setting the date and time of your wedding will be made once you have met with the priest/deacon who will conduct the wedding ceremony at Guardian Angels.   Only the Pastor or designated member of the parish staff may book a tentative date.

The wedding itself remains tentative until all marriage preparation requirements are completed.  Weddings at Guardian Angels are typically celebrated on Saturdays at 10:00am, 11:00am, 12:00pm or 1:00 pm.

Wedding Liturgies at Guardian Angels require the couples’ use the parish Wedding Coordinator. Our Coordinator is Julie Church (619) 994-1247 or email: Weddings@guardianangelssantee.org.  Contact our coordinator once you have scheduled your wedding date with the priest/deacon who will conduct the wedding ceremony at Guardian Angels.

Guardian Angels provides guidelines for celebrating weddings in church.  Couples will be given these guidelines when they meet with the Wedding Coordinator.

We are happy to share our beautiful church with you on the occasion of this very important day in your lives when you accept God’s blessing in the Sacrament of Matrimony.

Earlier this year the diocese invited its faithful to share their experiences in the Church, as part of a worldwide consultation of Catholics called a synod. They met in 1,100 small groups in parishes, schools and other places across San Diego and Imperial Counties.

The diocese has taken the extraordinary step to release the report that summarizes the key themes that emerged from those listening sessions.

Scan the QR Code or click the link to read the full report:

To continue to consult its community, the diocese plans to conduct an electronic survey this fall. If you have not done so already, please check your parish bulletin or website or contact your parish to register to receive the survey.

This is a crucial time for our Church. The insights that come from this consultation will be used to renew our parishes, schools and the diocese itself by strengthening a church culture that listens to its faithful, makes them co-responsible for the life of the church and reflects their wisdom.
