Patron of attorneys, prisoners, notaries and a Martyr
Mark was a disciple, and tradition has it that he was at the wedding in Cana when Jesus miraculously turned water into wine. He accompanied Paul and Barnabus on their missionary journey and he wrote the gospel that carries his name today. He is credited with founded the Church of Alexandria. It is believed that he was martyred in 68AD by being dragged through the street. His symbol is the winged lion, because his Gospel starts with John the Baptist proclaiming “Make ready the way of the Lord”.
His feast day is April 25.
