Anointing of the Sick

If you are seriously ill, anticipating surgery, or weakened because of prolonged illness or advanced age, you are encouraged to receive the Sacrament of the Sick.  Please contact one of the priests following Mass or call the Parish office during business hours: Monday – Saturday 9am – 5pm. 448-1213

 

MINISTRY TO THE SICK:

When someone in your family becomes ill or injured, please contact the Parish office and the person’s name will be listed on our prayer list. A number of parishioners are designated as ministers to the sick and homebound. These ministers visit and take Holy Communion to parishioners in their homes. The ministers, on visiting the ill/injured person, reads a gospel passage, prays Our Father, and distributes Holy Communion. Contact Father Kevin Casey for anointing of the sick or confession/reconciliation.

A team of ministers provide a Communion Service to the residents of Stanford Court Convalescent Home on Buena Vista/Cuyamaca Street on Thursdays and they have Mass one Thursday a month.   A second team of ministers provide a Communion Service to the residents of Edgemoor Community Hospital on Thursdays and they also have Mass one Thursday per month.

Healing Mass with Anointing of the Sick is scheduled during Lent in church,  at 11 a.m.  Lunch (free) is served immediately following in the Parish Center.  If you know someone who is ill or homebound, please let them know.  Perhaps you could offer transport or call the parish office for transport for them.

Bereavement Sessions for adults who have lost loved ones within the past five years are offered several times per year. We meet on first Saturday of the month in the Conference Room from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Depending on the group’s needs we plan to offer a eight week session on a Saturday 10 a.m-11:30 a.m.  Each weekly session lasts 90 minutes.
Some of the group gather for lunch at a local restaurant about once a month. Details are published in the bulletin.

Memorial Mass for parishioners and loved ones who have died this past year is tentatively scheduled for( TBA usually during November )with a light reception afterwards in the Parish Center.
