2017 Sessions

Acts of the Apostles:  During these 50 days of the Easter Season (Easter Sunday to Pentecost on June 4) we are encouraging one another to read the Acts of the Apostles and to follow their example of studying the teachings, gathering with the community for parish events, breaking bread together (Mass)and praying.

Divine Mercy Sunday: April 23 please gather with us 2 to 3 p.m. in church for prayer.

Parish Retreat:  “We Are One Body  … Many thanks to all (62) who attended the Retreat. It was a real spiritual experience for us. Thanks to all who cooked meals, facilitated groups or shared experiences.

Lenten Sessions, Disciples On The Journey, many thanks also to all (95) who attended the six sessions of Disciples On The Journey.

Been Away ~ Welcome Home

We welcome adults who have been away from church practice. We are available to address your concerns or help you seek answers for your questions.

We also invite you to listen to Catholic Radio while in your car on AM1000 or check out www.CatholicsComeHome.. Please call so that we can set up a session or two for a chat and feel free to invite family/friends who may be interested.

 Bible Study

A few parishioners have requested to do ~ The Great Adventure Bible Study Timeline ~  Please call and let us know if you are interested as about 125 have completed the 24 week series and we would need to order more books/decide on day/place to meet etc. It is a wonderful introduction to Bible Study and well worth the time and study effort.

If you need a bible … we have New American Bible available for $10 (paperback). We have Catechisms of Catholic Church (CCC) on sale for $25.   Also visit BibleStudyForCatholics.com to learn more.  

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A) for adults who are interested in knowing more about the Catholic Faith or in becoming Catholic is offered on Thursdays 7 to 8:45 p.m. We do our best to accommodate inquirers who have a schedule conflict for Thursdays by arranging with their sponsors and some team members to facilitate their initiation process. RCIA sessions are on Thursdays. Please call us for a brief chat before attending and visit RCIA section on website.

Bereavement Sessions for adults who have lost loved ones within the past five years are offered several times per year. We meet on first Saturday of the month in the Conference Room from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. September through June.  No meetings in July or August. Some of the group gather for lunch at a local restaurant about once a month.  Next Sessions Saturday, Jan 2, 2016 and February 6, 2016.

Centering Prayer Group meets on Fridays at 7 p.m. in the Conference Room.  For more information please contact Kathy DiFede 619-749-4141 

Retreat for the women of our parish is usually scheduled for end of January  each year at Prince of Peace Abbey, Oceanside. Registration forms are available on the counter top during October.  Fee: $205, with $50 deposit by end of October. Parish Retreat is during Lent 2017scheduled for Friday p.m. March 31 and Saturday, April 1, 2017. Fee is $20 and includes Friday supper, Saturday breakfast and lunch. More details re theme and speaker will be published in the bulletin/website a few weeks ahead of time..

The best way to grow strong in the faith is to share it with others.  So check to see about the possibility of being a catechist or assistant catechist with Religious Education, a sponsor with RCIA  or Facilitator with Adult Faith Formation.  You will find many opportunities to grow in your faith and to share your faith. All who work with children are background checked. Also you have opportunities to attend reflection day/s and Diocesan courses as well as the annual Religious Education Congress in Anaheim. Ministry of Moms Sharing, MOMS, is a group which meets for nine weeks to share the spirituality of motherhood. .  For more information call Debby Melrose 619-449-9138/June Richards 619-258-0346.

Guess Who Is Coming to Dinner is a social gathering for adult parishioners at a parishioner’s home. It is held on the second Saturday of the following months; January, March, May, July, September, and November. This is a fun and relaxing way to met other parishioners. Lay Pastors meet at 9 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month. Lay pastors contact parishioners on our parish mailing list several times during the year to see if they have concerns/needs that the parish can help with. Estudiar La Biblia Spanish Prayer/Bible Study group meets on Juevas 6:30 p.m.  ~ invitamos a todos los de habla espanol a estudiar la biblia, cantar y participar. Spanish group for parents who have children in Religious Education is on Tuesdays 6:30 to 7:40 p.m. in the Parish Center.

From time to time we have speakers/presentations for R.E. in the Parish Center and it is open to all parishioners.

Women’s Retreat is scheduled for January 27, 28 and 29, 2017 at Prince of Peace Abbey, Oceanside.  Cost is $205 per person.  For more information please call Lyla Prince 619-448-1163.

Advent Choral Groups: On the first Sunday in December Santee Christian Churches gather to sing Advent/Christmas songs in the Parish Center. For more information please contact Pete Callaway 619-449-4171 or Sandy Murphy 619-449-4069.

Parish Library, many adults enjoy study/meditation at their own pace, so we have a library of good spiritual books available in the Conference Room. The room is accessible on Sunday a.m. from inside the parish center, just enter the first door on your left down he hallway by the stage.
