We offer two series for Adult Faith Nourishment during the year. The Fall series is usually more head knowledge while the Lenten series is more heart knowledge and reflection.
Next session is during Lent 2018. We will be doing Disciples on a Journey ~ new updated for this year with reflections on the Sunday readings, Lectio Divina, and info on Saints. Registration begins week of January 14, cost is $5 per book and sessions begin week of February 12 as we reflect on the readings for the upcoming Sunday. We plan to offer group sessions, 90 minutes, on Mondays @ 9 a.m., Wednesdays @ 9:30 a.m. and Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at either 6:30 p.m. or 7 p.m.. We will offer sessions in Spanish, Wednesdays 6:30 p.m. at church and Thursdays 6:30 p.m. at a home. More information in January 2018.
“The Pivotal Players” DVD series by Bishop Robert Barron offered Sept. ~ Nov. had 93 adults participate. We will offer this 6 session series again after Easter on Wednesdays @ 6:30 p.m. mid April to June 2018. It is very user friendly as there is no homework.We view the DVD, chat about what we heard/seen and how it may relate to us. Cost is $10 per participant.
During this series we’ll discover the figures who shaped the Church/Catholicism and changed the world. We’ll hear about saints, artists, mystics and scholars: St. Francis of Assisi, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. John Henry Newman, St. Catherine of Siena, G.K. Chesterton and Michelangelo.

Retreat for the women of our parish is scheduled for January 26-28, 2018 at Prince of Peace Abbey, Oceanside. Registration forms are available on the counter top during October. Parish Retreat is during Lent 2018 scheduled for Friday p.m. and Saturday, March 2 & 3, 2018 . Fee is $20 and includes Friday supper, Saturday breakfast and lunch. More details re theme and speaker will be published in the bulletin/website a few weeks ahead of time..
Bereavement Group gather on first Saturday of the month in the Conference Room, Cunnane Parish Center. This is suitable for people who have lost family members, loved ones, co workers within the past five years. Our sessions are 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 2, 2017, Jan. 6, Feb. 3, Mar. 3, April 7, May 5, and June 2, 2018. We also meet once a month for lunch and usually publish the date/place in the parish bulletin the week before.
Been Away ~ Welcome Home
We welcome adults who have been away from church practice. We are available to address your concerns or help you seek answers for your questions.

Catechetical Day at Guardian Angels is Saturday, September 9, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fr. Andre will be the presenter on “Living as Missionary Disciples”. This is the theme the the United States Bishops have chosen for us Catholics during 2017-2018.
Catechetical Sunday is September 17 with commissioning at 10 a.m. Mass.

During the year we hope to have an 8 week Introduction to the Bible. We are planning on Wednesdays, 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Social Hall. Watch out for more details in the parish bulletin. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A) for adults who are interested in knowing more about the Catholic Faith or in becoming Catholic is offered on Thursdays 7 to 8:45 p.m. We do our best to accommodate inquirers who have a schedule conflict for Thursdays by arranging with their sponsors and some team members to facilitate their initiation process. RCIA sessions are on Thursdays. Please call us for a brief chat before attending and visit RCIA section on website.
Bereavement Sessions for adults who have lost loved ones within the past five years are offered several times per year. We meet on first Saturday of the month in the Conference Room from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. September through June. No meetings in July or August. The best way to grow strong in the faith is to share it with others. So check to see about the possibility of being a catechist or assistant catechist with Religious Education, a sponsor with RCIA or Facilitator with Adult Faith Formation. You will find many opportunities to grow in your faith and to share your faith. All who work with children are background checked. Also you have opportunities to attend reflection day/s and Diocesan courses as well as the annual Religious Education Congress in Anaheim. Check out www.RECongress.org
Guess Who Is Coming to Dinner is a social gathering for adult parishioners at a parishioner’s home. It is held on the second Saturday of the following months; January, March, May, July, September, and November. This is a fun and relaxing way to met other parishioners. Lay Pastors meet at 9 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month. Lay pastors contact parishioners on our parish mailing list several times during the year to see if they have concerns/needs that the parish can help with. Parish Library, many adults enjoy study/meditation at their own pace, so we have a library of good spiritual books available in the Conference Room. The room is accessible on Sunday a.m. from inside the parish center, just enter the first door on your left down he hallway by the stage.
